Camping Critters and Other Cool Sightings

Have you seen any cool critters lately?  Like many of you, we spent this past weekend camping, cooking outdoors, fishing and just having a fabulous time being close to nature.  So on this Almost Wordless Wednesday, I thought I would show you a few of the camping critters we encountered this past weekend.  And I’ll throw in some other cool sightings just for fun.

But we would also love to see some nature, camping and fishing pictures from your weekend.  Just upload them to our facebook page and tell us a little about them.

Blue Moon 2012

These pictures were taken at High Falls State Park in Georgia.  High Falls State Park is located northwest of Macon, Georgia and is named for the tumbling cascades on the Towaliga River.  This quaint and relaxing park features yurt, tent and RV camping.  Activities include lake and river fishing, swimming, hiking, geocaching, canoe rental and more.  For more information about this park and other Georgia State Parks, visit the Georgia State Parks website here.

I’ll see ya around the campfire.

Did you have a chance to check out the blue moon this past weekend?  Did you get to go camping or participate in any outdoor actitivies?

  1. Oohh… cool pictures! (I hope you didn’t eat that mushroom… ;) )

We DID get to camp last weekend, I was thrilled! Doesn’t happen nearly often enough, because i work weeks and my husband works weekends – booo.

Coolest critter sighting we had was a marmot, aka “whistle pig”, each morning. His home was right along the hillside, next to our site. They are a high altitude critter that makes its den between large rocks – we were at around 10,500 ft. Very fun to watch him!

  2. Oh my goodness! I will be sharing with everyone a crazy, creepy yet interesting critter we encountered last week. Stay tuned!

    Love the pics!

Camping is such a great way to see wonderful critters and spectacular sights

  3. I’ve been to High Falls State Park! These are some very cool pictures–especially the caterpillar.

  4. These are amazing pictures. You are so lucky you have your camera in handy while you are on your camping trip. I can’t count the number of times I missed a wonderful shot because I forgot the batteries or the ones I have on is already used on max.
