Camping Furniture- Does Quality Matter?

Camping Furniture by OzTentWhen it comes to camping furniture, how important is quality?  These days you can buy camping chairs at every discount store, drug store and grocery store in town.

I know.  I’ve bought lots of them because they’re cheap.  But I’ve had to buy a lot because they are cheap and they break pretty easily.

Should camping furniture be basically disposable?  Or does your decision depend on how frequently you go camping?  Maybe if you only go camping once or twice a year, disposable furniture is worth it.  If you are a compulsive camper, do you look for higher quality camping furniture?

These are some questions I’ve been thinking about for a while now.  And I would love to hear your opinion.

Well, next week is Camping Faves and Raves Week + our Blogiversary Giveaway.  And we will be giving away a quality camping chair.  In fact, this camping chair comes with a 5 year warranty.  It also has lower lumbar support.  Just because you are camping doesn’t mean you have to give up comfort, right?  So let’s have a look at the OzTent Goanna chair.Camping Furniture OzTent Goanna chair

  1. Comfy. We looked long and hard for camp chairs that were comfortable. Then we paid the price – didn’t break the bank but we’re the discount special. Yes, we could have picked up $5 chairs but they wouldn’t have lasted and they didn’t invite you to sit in them.

  2. I truly believe in “you get what you pay for”. If you can afford it, get the best you can – esp if you will use it alot. I hate sitting in totally uncomfortable chairs around a campfire when that is a totally relaxing event.

But, that is just my $.02

  3. I like comfortable chairs. One of ours just broke too :( The metal frame was big enough it was the piece of plastic under the front part of the chair where you sit that broke. It was a gift so I’ll have to find out where it was purchased. I’d rather stand than sit in an uncomfortable chair.

  4. I used to “go cheap” and buy the cheapest thing possible.. I have found that his is good in some instances, but others it is not. For camp chairs I have the “cheap” model from WM. Thy are exactly that, cheap! The next set I buy will be a premium chair. The ones I have now are loose in the joints, the fabric is thin, and they rust easily. Now that we are more serious about camping I will try and upgrade on the next purchase.

  5. I’m thinking good, quality camping gear is better than the cheap crap any day.

We don’t buy the real expensive stuff. But do look for quality in some things such as cooking equipment. However this chair really looks comfy and when I read about the lumbar support, I thought it would be great for my daughter who is my soulmate in camping. she has back problems and something like this would be beneficial for her I’m sure!
