Our favorite grilled pizza recipes are easy and fun for the whole family. Even my kids who would eat hot dogs every night while camping have been won over by these grilled pizzas. They’re easy because the crusts are made of flour tortillas or flatbread. The fun? Everyone gets to build their own pizza just the way they like it.
How to Make Grilled Pizza
Use flour tortillas or flatbread for the crust.
Brush olive oil on both sides of the tortilla (or flatbread) and heat on the grill, turning once.
Remove the tortilla from the grill and add the toppings, then place the pizza back on the grill. Allow it to heat completely.
Watch the pizza closely to prevent burning.
Tips for Grilling Pizza
Prepare toppings ahead of time and get organized. Once you start grilling, the pizzas cook up fast.
It’s better to use indirect heat. Don’t place the pizzas directly over the fire or it may burn.
Don’t pile the toppings on too thick or the pizza won’t have time to cook thoroughly.
Our Favorite Grilled Pizza Recipes
Grilled Peach Pizza
Cut peaches in quarters and brush both sides with olive oil. Place on the grill. You can leave the pealing on to keep the peaches intact.
Brush the flatbread with olive oil on both sides and grill it.
Top the flatbread with pesto, fresh spinach, mozzarella and grilled peaches.
Once the pizza has heated completely, remove it from the grill.
Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and top with toasted almond slices.
After you heat the flour tortillas on the grill, remove from the grill and top with pizza sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni slices. Grill it.
This is a favorite among my kids. It’s also one of the easiest grilled pizza recipes to make at the campsite because very little preparation is involved.
Spinach Mozzarella Pizza
Top this pizza with pizza sauce, fresh spinach and mozzarella. You can also add a little fresh basil.
Loaded Potato Grilled Pizza
This is a fun and off-beat grilled pizza. Prepare the toppings ahead of time. You can use left over roasted potatoes or wrap some potatoes in foil and cook in your hot campfire coals before you are ready to begin grilling.
First make the potato mixture. Smash fully cooked potatoes with a fork. Mix in some butter, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled up bacon pieces and salt and pepper to taste. We add a little Cajun seasoning to give it some kick.
Heat the flour tortilla, add the potato mixture and place back on the grill. When it’s done, remove from heat and top with sour cream. Yum!!
