I love shoes, so when Nature Shop asked me to review their Merrell Siren Breeze sport shoes, I readily agreed.
The Merrell Siren Breeze is a good looking hiking shoe for women. The dark gull grey color with light blue accents are perfect colors for a shoe that will be worn around a campsite, on hiking trails and by a lake fishing. The grey color doesn’t show dirt as readily as lighter colored shoes. And these shoes look great with jeans because of the light blue accent color.
The matching shoe strings, which are also dark gull grey and are accented with blue squares, finish out the look of this shoe. Matching shoe strings may seem trivial but this attention to the smallest of details show how far Merrell is willing to go to make a quality shoe. Of course, if you think that is impressive, you will not believe the other details of this shoe.
Features of the Merrell Siren Breeze shoes according to the manufacturer:
- Lining is treated with Aegis® microbe shield which controls odor, staining, deterioration.
- QForm® Comfort midsole provides women’s specific stride-sequenced cushioning.
- Vibram® sole delivers vital traction in high-friction areas and under the arch.
- Merrell® air cushion in the heel absorbs shock and stability.
- Waterproof nubuck leather, pig suede and mesh upper.
That sounds good, but can the Merrell Siren Breeze pass the closet door test? What is the closet door test? The closet door test evaluates the comfort of a shoe. I developed the closet door test after many years of standing at my closet door deciding which shoe to wear. Since I am a connoisseur of shoes, many shoes have made their way into my closet because they are so cute. After wearing the shoes several times, some shoes do not make it back out of my closet because they are uncomfortable. A shoe’s comfort is considered while standing at your closet door. You may buy a shoe based on it’s looks and fashion appeal. But you choose to wear a shoe repeatedly, based on comfort and performance.
I have been wearing the Merrell Siren Breeze shoes for over two months now. Initially, I wore them everywhere so I could give a honest review of the shoes. But now, I continue to wear them simply because I like them. They are both cute and comfortable. The Merrell Siren Breeze definitely passed my closet door test.
As we continue with my theory of shoes, I believe that a person will buy another pair of shoes by the same brand if the shoe is not only cute and comfortable, but also is of high quality. After two months, I believe that the Siren Breeze is a high quality shoe. These shoes have a good amount of traction due to its fairly thick tread. I measured the tread to be about 1/2 centimeter at its thickest point. And these shoes are holding up well so far. They do not have any tears or threads hanging off the shoe. Actually, they still look brand new despite the fact that I wear them A LOT.
As far as the cost of the shoes, the Siren Breeze is not an inexpensive shoe. Retail cost of this shoe is $100. However, because I consider it a high quality shoe, I think it is comparably priced to other shoes of similar quality.
In conclusion, I find the Merrell Siren Breeze to be a stylish and comfortable sports shoe. It has become my “go to” shoes for sports and performance as well as a cute, casual shoe.
I’ll see ya by the campfire.
