Sweet, Spiced Pecan Recipe

One of my favorite Christmas gifts this year was a bag of pecans, fresh from my mother-in-law’s yard.  It was like getting a bag of possibilities.  We came up with a lot of ideas for how we would cook the pecans.  Everyone agreed to use part of the pecans to make sweet, spiced pecans.  These pecans are a little addictive.  This sweet, spiced pecan recipe is easy-peasy (just the way I like my recipes).  These pecans are great whether you are hiking a trail or just hiking over to the appetizers at your New Year’s Eve party.  ;-)

Sweet, Spiced Pecan Recipe

1 slightly beaten egg white
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp crushed clove
1/4 tsp allspice
2 Tbsp cold water
1 cup pecans
Combine water with egg whites.  Dissolve sugar in water and egg white mixture.  Add spices.  Dip nuts in mixture and place on greased cookie sheet, flat side down. I think that step is a little silly. Unless you are a person who has tons of extra time on your hands, I suggest just mixing the pecans in with the other ingredients.  I scoop them out with a fork, so the mixture isn’t too caked up on the pecans.  Place them in a single layer on a greased cookie sheet.  Bake @ 250 degrees for 1 hour.
